A soulful and versatile interpretive artist, Roshana Nofret is a world-renowned performer, instructor, and choreographer of Middle Eastern dances. Seamlessly merging traditional and contemporary dance elements while keeping the original essence and character of each dance, Roshana's performances conjure a uniquely delightful and engaging cultural experience equally on stage and in her classes and workshops. Her dancing is widely regarded as elegant, fluid, charismatic, and expressive -- with a deep musical connection and understanding.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida of Cuban parents with Spanish and Lebanese background, Roshana has been devotedly immersed in this art form for over 20 years. She has received training from some of the best and most prestigious Master Instructors throughout the world, with legendary dance icons Tamalyn Dallal and Bozenka as two of her greatest mentors.

Roshana has participated in prestigious dance productions and large scale dance festivals/cultural celebrations both locally and internationally (North America, Asia, and Egypt) as a performer, workshop instructor, and competition judge. She was also the First Place Winner in the Professional Raks Sharqi Competition of the 2008 Miami Bellydance Convention.

As an artistic presenter of this art form, Roshana's goal is to delight, inspire, and inform audiences through sharing her love and knowledge of these dances, promoting cultural appreciation and understanding of the art and its origins, further elevating it to the utmost level of practice, recognition and admiration worldwide.

Throughout her dance career, Roshana has passionately pursued and achieved many of her artistic goals. She is on a constant path of learning and personal metamorphosis, consistently reinventing herself to breach new creative ground and achieve more profound levels of artistic and cultural understanding, expression, and teaching.

​

In addition to solo artistic and educational community performances, Roshana is the Founder, Director & Choreographer of M.E.C.A. Dance Ensemble, South Florida's premier Middle Eastern and Central Asian dance company specializing in Iranian and fusion dances. She is an honorary guest dancer for Ballet Afsaneh, one of the most prestigious Iranian dance companies in the U.S.
